Baseball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings didn't have quite enough to beat the Russell County Warriors and fell 3-2. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nathan Boatner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, St. Anne-Pacelli saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Merrick Miller, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Nolan Vaughn also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

St. Anne-Pacelli's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Russell County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Coming up, St. Anne-Pacelli will be playing at home against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Anne-Pacelli is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Russell County, they will take on Calvary Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
