Basketball Recap: Tussey Mountain Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

While Tussey Mountain's win against Claysburg-Kimmel wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tussey Mountain Titans skirted past the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs 36-34. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 561st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tussey Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karah Husick, who posted ten points along with seven boards and three steals. Husick has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Aubree Weaver was another key player, putting up six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Tussey Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Claysburg-Kimmel only pulled down five offensive boards.

Claysburg-Kimmel's loss came despite strong showings from Bailey Tipton and Zailee Bush. Tipton went 5 for 12 en route to 19 points, while Bush dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Tussey Mountain's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Tussey Mountain will challenge Southern Huntingdon County at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they will take on Forbes Road at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
