Basketball Game Preview: Biggs Wolverines vs. Portola Tigers

The Biggs Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the Portola Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

If Biggs beats Portola with 57 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Biggs put the hurt on Hamilton with a sharp 57-32 victory on Tuesday. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Portola on Wednesday. They blew past Sierra Lutheran 37-16. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 641st in California, while the Falcons are ranked 98th in Nevada).

Portola has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Biggs, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Biggs was able to grind out a solid win over Portola when the teams last played back in January, winning 53-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Biggs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
