Basketball Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Estancia Eagles

The Costa Mesa Mustangs and the Estancia Eagles will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Costa Mesa will be strutting in after a victory while Estancia will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Costa Mesa slipped by Mission Viejo 41-40. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Costa Mesa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Leilani Quero out in front who posted 17 points and three steals. Quero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Terry, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Estancia had to suffer through a 43-16 loss at the hands of Santa Ana. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Saints are ranked 341st).

This is the second loss in a row for Estancia and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Costa Mesa, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
