Preview: Pine Bush Bushmen vs. Middletown Middie Bears
The Pine Bush Bushmen will head out on the road to face off against the Middletown Middie Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Pine Bush earned a 35-23 win over Valley Central.
Pine Bush's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emanuel Hannon, who rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Pine Bush also got a significant boost from Ruben Simpson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.
Meanwhile, Middletown got themselves on the board against Warwick on Thursday, but Warwick never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 34-0 win over the Wildcats at home. Given Middletown's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Warwick is ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Bush's victory on Friday bumped their record up to 2-4. Middletown has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six contests, giving them a 5-1 record.
Pine Bush suffered a grim 33-13 defeat to Middletown in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Pine Bush avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
