Basketball Recap: Burroughs Falls Despite Big Games from Mariam Fahs and Valentina Morales

If Burroughs was feeling good fresh off their 54-21 takedown of Eagle Rock last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Burroughs Bears took a 58-42 bruising from the Marlborough Mustangs on Saturday. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Burroughs' loss came despite strong showings from Valentina Morales and Mariam Fahs. Morales went 6 for 14 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds, while Fahs dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Elizabeth Amoroso was another key player, putting up eight points and seven assists.

Even though they lost, Burroughs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Burroughs' defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Marlborough, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Burroughs will be playing in front of their home fans against Hamilton on Friday. Marlborough and Maranatha will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marlborough has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three matches.
