Softball Recap: East Carter Redbirds vs. Naylor Eagles
After losing to Naylor the last time they met, East Carter decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Redbirds came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-4 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redbirds.
Calleigh Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Addie Kearbey and Zelma Cooley did most of the damage at the plate: Kearbey went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Cooley went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kearbey is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
East Carter's record is now 3-12. As for Naylor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Carter will take on Sikeston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Naylor, they will host Doniphan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
