Baseball Recap: Tipton Takes a Loss

Tipton dropped to 6-15 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 12-4 to the Northwestern Tigers. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Aaden Gibbs made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Northwestern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

On Northwestern's side, Ayden Giles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Giles has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landen Begley was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Trueblood, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Tipton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-5 defeat against West Lafayette on the 15th. Northwestern has also already played their next game (against Carroll), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
