Recap: Linden Lions vs. Venture Academy Mustangs
The Linden Lions can finally bid farewell to their 19-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They greeted the New Year with with a 64-49 victory over Venture Academy. Linden's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Linden got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Franco out in front who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Jackie Mercer, who scored 22 points.
Venture Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kelyiana Neal, who scored 23 points. The match was Neal's third in a row with at least ten points. Kimora Crawford was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Linden's win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-14. As for Venture Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-8.
Linden's road trip will continue as they head out to face Edison at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Edison is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Venture Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Elliot Christian at 5:30 p.m.
