Jenkins extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-17. They came up short against the Liberty County Panthers, falling 14-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 on September 9th.
Alaiah Briscoe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kayanna Moore, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Liberty County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The result was nothing new for Liberty County, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
On Liberty County's side, Mya Armstrong made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Armstrong has posted since back in August. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Amiyah Payne was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Demery Durrence was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Liberty County beat Jenkins by a score of 15-0 later that day.
