Softball Recap: Holy Family's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Holy Family dropped down to 19-4 on Saturday, ending the team's 11-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Broomfield Eagles by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in September.

Emmaline Humphreys spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Holy Family saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Sandoval, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Broomfield, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 20-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Broomfield's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ireland Heer gave up a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

As of now, neither Holy Family nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
