Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Abby Sherwood and Berkeley Ashby Lead Aptos to Victory

There's no place like home for Aptos, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 38-26 win over the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars on Friday. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.

Leading Aptos to victory were Berkeley Ashby and Abby Sherwood. Ashby posted 15 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Sherwood dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Ashby has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Eliya Chavez was another key player, putting up five points.

Aptos smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Aptos' win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aptos will welcome Soquel at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they will challenge Harbor at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Lorenzo Valley is facing Harbor at the right time seeing as Harbor is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
