After flying high against Rancho Bernardo on Wednesday, Valley Christian came back down to earth. The Trojans took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coronado Islanders on Friday. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Sydney Simon paced Valley Christian's offense, picking up eight kills. Simon got some help from Ansley Venkatesh and her 18 assists. Venkatesh was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Avalon Haro was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matches.

Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Coronado, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 26-4.

Coincidentally, Valley Christian and Coronado will both be playing Foothill the next time they take the court. The Trojans will head out to face the Falcons at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, while the Islanders will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
