Basketball Game Preview: Carbondale Area Chargers vs. Wyoming Valley West Spartans

The Carbondale Area Chargers will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Wyoming Valley West Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Carbondale Area is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Valley View on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Carbondale Area was dealt a 70-20 loss at the hands of Valley View. The contest marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Wyoming Valley West took a blow against Hughesville on Saturday, falling 55-28. While losing is never fun, Wyoming Valley West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Hughesville is ranked 12th).

Wyoming Valley West now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Carbondale Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
