Football Recap: Anoka Tornadoes vs. Andover Huskies

Anoka had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it four. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Andover Huskies. The Tornadoes were up 21 in the second, but they couldn't quite seal the deal.

Despite the loss, Anoka still got an impressive performance from Brody Rush, who rushed for 300 yards and five scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. Rush really tore up the turf during one magnificent 89-yard run. Anoka also got help from Brody Lakanen, who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.

As for Andover, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Things were looking grim for they in the second quarter (they were down by 21) but they stormed back to get the contest.

Joseph Mapson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 156 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 296 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 296 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Collin Gravink also helped out as he racked up 120 rushing yards.

Anoka wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-41 defeat against Champlin Park on the 3rd. As for Andover, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-31 win against Rogers on the 3rd.
