Softball Game Preview: Crisp County Cougars vs. Shaw Raiders

For the second straight game, Crisp County will face off against Shaw. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crisp County has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Crisp County heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They lost 16-6 to Shaw. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

For Shaw's part, Katlyn Moss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Moss has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Michayla Bledsoe was incredible, going 1-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Gerber, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

With the win, Shaw broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-13. As for Crisp County, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
