Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Elena Delmundo and Anniyah Banks Lead Pleasant Grove to Victory

Pleasant Grove won the last time they faced Elk Grove and things went their way on Friday too. The Pleasant Grove Eagles took down the Elk Grove Thundering Herd 35-21. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Thundering Herd are ranked 982nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pleasant Grove was led to victory by Anniyah Banks and Elena Delmundo. Banks dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Delmundo posted eight points along with five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Banks a new career-high in boards.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for Elk Grove, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Pleasant Grove will head out to face off against Laguna Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elk Grove, they will square off against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elk Grove is facing Franklin at the right time seeing as Franklin is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
