It may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Azusa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They never let the Baldwin Park Braves onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Braves are ranked 1038th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Azusa is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-0-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven contests. As for Baldwin Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8-2 record this season.
