Football Recap: Espanola Valley Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Espanola Valley fell victim to Grants and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Pirates, falling 54-0. The Sundevils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Grants' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristin Fernandez led the charge by throwing for 205 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Fernandez a new career-high in passer rating (156.3). Another receiver making a difference was Isaiah Ortega, who picked up 154 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Espanola Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Grants, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
