Soccer Game Preview: Sprayberry vs. Walton

The Sprayberry Yellow Jackets will face off against the Walton Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Walton better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Sprayberry's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Sprayberry really gets things going. Sprayberry's defense stepped up to hand Pope a 4-0 shutout. Sprayberry might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by three goals or more this season.

They hit Pope with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gavin Crowe, Jean-Marcel Sylvain, Eric Cruz, and Maaziah Brown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walton). Everything went their way against Etowah on Tuesday as Walton made off with a 5-0 win. Walton haven't had any issues with Etowah recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The win made it two in a row for Sprayberry and bumps their season record up to 10-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for Walton, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Sprayberry couldn't quite get it done against Walton when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 2-0. Can Sprayberry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
