Softball Recap: Akron-Westfield's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Akron-Westfield had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Western Christian Wolfpack. Considering the Westerners have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Akron-Westfield's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Western Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Coming up, Akron-Westfield will take on Hinton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blackhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Westerners' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against MOC-Floyd Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
