Soccer Game Preview: Santa Barbara vs. Ventura

Santa Barbara hasn't had much luck against Ventura recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Santa Barbara Dons are taking a road trip to square off against the Ventura Cougars at 5:15 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Santa Barbara is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost 3-0 to Buena. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, Ventura came into Monday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Neither they nor San Marcos could gain the upper hand on Monday so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Cougars have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

Santa Barbara's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-3. Ventura's draw gives them a new season record of 5-8-4.

Santa Barbara might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Ventura in their previous matchup on January 9th. Can Santa Barbara avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
