Baseball Game Preview: Terrell County Greenwave vs. Mitchell County Eagles

For the second straight game, Terrell County will face off against Mitchell County. The Greenwave will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Terrell County has given up an average of 15.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Terrell County headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for six straight, but Mitchell County let them put that streak behind them. The Greenwave came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 16-12 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Greenwave as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak.

Corderell Small made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing eight bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Terrell County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 0-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Romarion Thomas was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Quintavious Huckaby was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Terrell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
