Baseball Game Preview: Red Bank Catholic Caseys vs. Brick Memorial Mustangs

The Red Bank Catholic Caseys will square off against the Brick Memorial Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Red Bank Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Point Pleasant Beach, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Caseys fell just short of the Garnet Gulls by a score of 11-9 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Caseys have suffered since March 25th.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brick Memorial). Everything went their way against New Egypt on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-10 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brick Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Red Bank Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Red Bank Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Brick Memorial when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 7-3. Do the Caseys have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
