Lafayette Central Catholic came into Friday's match looking for another win against West Lafayette, but Kojo Steffey wouldn't allow it. The Red Devils came out on top against the Knights by a score of 34-27 on Friday with plenty of help from Steffey, who rushed for 195 yards and three scores, and also picked up 38 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 113.4 rushing yards per game.

Fielder Melchi was another key player, picking up 153 receiving yards and one TD. He was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 53 yards.

West Lafayette didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Micah Davis and Dylan Salazar. Salazar has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 16 times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Lafayette Central Catholic lost, don't look at Mason Meister. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 61 receiving yards. Wyatt Williams also helped out with an impressive 115 receiving yards.

The victory made it two in a row for West Lafayette and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

West Lafayette and Lafayette Central Catholic will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Red Devils are set to face off against their familiar foe Western at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lafayette Central Catholic will take on rival Rensselaer Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
