Basketball Recap: Rio Lindo Adventist Comes Up Short

Rio Lindo Adventist fought the good fight in their overtime game against Summerfield Waldorf on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs by a score of 33-31. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 32-27.

Despite the defeat, Rio Lindo Adventist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sascha Norman dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Norman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Gibson, who posted two points in addition to ten rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Rio Lindo Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Rio Lindo Adventist's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Summerfield Waldorf, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

As of now, neither Rio Lindo Adventist nor Summerfield Waldorf have any future games scheduled.
