Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Hornets vs. Ross Rams

The Monroe Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Ross Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monroe's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Ross' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Monroe is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Turpin just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. Neither they nor the Spartans could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 5-5 draw.

Fairfield typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Ross proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Indians. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

With that tie, Monroe's record moves to 16-4-1. As for Ross, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Monroe was able to grind out a solid win over Ross when the teams last played on May 1st, winning 5-0. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
