Softball Recap: O'neill Has No Trouble Against Ponca

O'Neill came out on top against Ponca on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Indians. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Brenna Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tenzlie Sorenson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

O'Neill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponca only posted an OBP of .238.

O'Neill's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Ponca, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, O'Neill will be playing at home against NEN at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Neill's pitchers better be ready for this one: NEN has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Ponca, they will head out on the road to take on Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bluejays' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
