Volleyball Recap: South Brunswick Falls Despite Big Games from Faye (Malin) Miller and Taylor Bowers

After flying high against Red Springs on Tuesday, South Brunswick came back down to earth. The Cougars lost 3-0 to the Ashley Screaming Eagle on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Ashley got the win, South Brunswick sure made them earn it: two sets took extra rallies. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 27-25, 26-24.

Despite the defeat, South Brunswick had strong showings from Taylor Bowers, who had 17 assists and four digs, and Faye (Malin) Miller, who had 11 digs.

The loss snapped South Brunswick's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record. As for Ashley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

South Brunswick has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Whiteville on the 11th. As for Ashley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against West Brunswick on the 11th.
