Football Game Preview: Churchill Bulldogs vs. Wootton Patriots + How To Watch

The Churchill Bulldogs will face off against the Wootton Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Churchill will be strutting in after a win while Wootton will be coming in after a defeat.

Churchill's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to Seneca Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won four games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Churchill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Zhang led the charge by rushing for 134 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, while also catching one TD. With that strong performance, Zhang is now averaging an impressive 100.6 rushing yards per game. Another passer making a difference was Hunter Humphries, who threw for 168 yards and three TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes.

Churchill's defense stepped up as well, laying out Terence Krangar four times. The heavy lifting was done by Saahir Lester and David Skopec, who racked up all four sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Wootton's offense. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of Sherwood on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Warriors are ranked 23rd).

Churchill's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points over those games. As for Wootton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Everything went Churchill's way against Wootton in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Churchill made off with a 31-6 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
