Basketball Recap: Kylie Kulina's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Beyer over Lathrop

Beyer was the 63-53 winner over Lathrop when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Beyer Patriots fell 58-50 to the Lathrop Spartans on Thursday. While the Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 22-12 in the first quarter.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylie Kulina, who posted 20 points and six assists. Alana Dancer was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five steals and three blocks.

It was another big night for Shakara Porter, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards for Lathrop. What's more, Porter also posted a 62% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Faith Allen, who scored eight points and five steals.

Beyer's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Lathrop, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-14.

Beyer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-31 defeat against Rio Linda on the 18th. Lathrop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
