Cherokee Christian has gone a perfect 6-0 against Cornerstone Prep Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cherokee Christian Warriors will take on Cornerstone Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. Cornerstone Prep Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cherokee Christian, who comes in off a win.
Cherokee Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt North Georgia HomeSchool on Friday. Cherokee Christian put the hurt on North Georgia HomeSchool with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Gabe Mccure made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Goodwin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Colton Messer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Cherokee Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Prep Academy lost 25-5 to Harvester Christian Academy on Friday.
Cornerstone Prep Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Stahl, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Cherokee Christian's record is now 2-3. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Cherokee Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Cornerstone Prep Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 14-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cherokee Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
