Basketball Recap: Clovis Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Clovis had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 63-52 victory over the Oak Ridge Trojans on Tuesday. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 66-58 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Oak Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leah Harris, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. Sofia Williams was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Clovis has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. Oak Ridge's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 21-11.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Clovis Cougars duke it out with Cardinal Newman Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Newman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Oak Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
