Basketball Game Preview: Poly Bears vs. Heritage Patriots

The Poly Bears will take on the Heritage Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Poly will be strutting in after a victory while Heritage will be coming in after a loss.

Poly is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past JW North 73-41 on Saturday. With the Bears ahead 41-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt an 87-40 loss at the hands of Rancho Christian. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-20.

Poly will have to keep a close watch on LaKaila Trimble and Sierra Maxwell, a pair of players who had a big impact on Heritage's prior game. Trimble dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Maxwell went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points. Maxwell has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bria Lewis, who posted five points.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Poly, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.

Poly suffered a grim 63-38 defeat to Heritage in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Maxwell, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine steals.
