Basketball Recap: Firebaugh Extends Winning Streak to Four

Firebaugh waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 45-30 victory over the Farmersville Aztecs.

Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janessa Garza, who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Garza is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. Leila Juarez was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Firebaugh is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Farmersville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-12.

Firebaugh wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-41 defeat against Mendota on the 24th. As for Farmersville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-14 win against Wonderful College Prep Academy on the 24th.
