Baseball Recap: Franklin County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Crossroad Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin County). They blew past the Crossroad Academy Scorpions 22-1 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Seahawks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Chason Martina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Brennan Cook looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sadiq Jones, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Franklin County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Johnson, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

Franklin County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Franklin County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Crossroad Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin County will face off against Blountstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crossroad Academy, they will take on Wakulla Christian School at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Crossroad Academy has given up an average of 19.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
