Basketball Recap: Shelby Gregory's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Taft over Orosi

Taft and Orosi squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Taft had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Orosi Cardinals by a score of 32-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since December 29, 2023.

Taft's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Gregory, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Taft is 9-2 when Gregory posts eight or more boards, but 4-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Swearengin, who posted four points and ten rebounds.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Orosi, their win bumped their record up to 14-15.

Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Orosi, they have already played their next game, a 56-31 loss against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on the 18th.
