Softball Recap: Hawkinsville Takes a Loss

Hawkinsville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Crisp County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-4. The Red Devils' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it ten in a row.

Rheaghan Powers put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Powers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Powers wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Takayla Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Hawkinsville's record now sits at 2-19. As for Crisp County, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawkinsville will venture away from home to face off against Wheeler County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Crisp County, they will face off against Worth County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
