Football Game Preview: Worthington Christian Warriors vs. Waverly Tigers

The Worthington Christian Warriors will square off against the Waverly Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Worthington Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Dayton Christian, taking the game 51-38. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the WARRIORS: they've now won six in a row.

Worthington Christian found their leader in sophomore Jack Smolenski, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two scores. Smolenski is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Waverly played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Northwest and fell 59-31. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Worthington Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
