The Blue Valley Northwest Huskies will take on the Olathe South Falcons on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It was a classic North v. South duel when Blue Valley Northwest duked it out with Blue Valley Southwest on Friday. The Huskies put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 33-10 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 1, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Blue Valley Northwest can attribute much of their success to LJ Bowens, who gained 93 total yards and three touchdowns, and Aidan Ihm, who threw for 176 yards and two TDs. Bowens also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Huskies are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise. Baron Marshall also helped out with an impressive 112 receiving yards.
Blue Valley Northwest didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Blue Valley Southwest to a completion percentage of just 25%. The team can thank Cade Markley for the heroic effort on defense: he. Blue Valley Northwest wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.9%.
Blue Valley Northwest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cade Wilson, Blake Berry, Markley, and Teagan Ozbun picked up one apiece. Berry is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Olathe South, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They strolled past Shawnee Mission South with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 38-21. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.
The win got Olathe South back to even at 4-4. As for Blue Valley Northwest, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.
Blue Valley Northwest didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Olathe South when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-42 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Falcons' Bryce Noernberg, who rushed for 255 yards and five scores while picking up 13.4 yards per carry.
