Softball Recap: Lutheran Now 16-1 over Last 17 Games

Lutheran proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Palmer Ridge Bears 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since September 17th.

Annie Schroeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reese Walker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kiley Glenn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Lutheran has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Palmer Ridge, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 19-4 record.

As of now, neither Lutheran nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
