Bastrop extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping them up to 6-0. They took their game with ease, bagging a 62-18 win over the Pflugerville Connally Cougars. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Cougars are ranked 657th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bastrop's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gary Jefferson Jr., who rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 83 receiving yards and one score. Jefferson Jr.'s longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Zac Wilkinson also helped with five TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bastrop was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pflugerville Connally only rushed for 83.

As for Pflugerville Connally, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-3. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rahsaan Franklin, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jonah Garcia, who picked up 62 receiving yards.

Bastrop didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 71-0 win against Navarro on the 17th. As for Pflugerville Connally, they have also already played their next contest, a 36-34 loss against McCallum on the 17th.
