Baseball Recap: Douglas County Comes Up Short

Douglas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chapel Hill Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 19-3 loss back in March.

Styles Bailey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Nayland Patton was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Douglas County's record now sits at 3-17. As for Chapel Hill, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-13 record.

Coming up, Douglas County will square off against Carrollton at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. As for Chapel Hill, they will challenge Kennesaw Mountain at 1:00 p.m. on the 12th.
