Recap: Foothill Mustangs vs. Cordova Lancers
The Foothill Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 32-19 to Cordova. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Foothill of the 52-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joyce Runner. Despite the final result, she scored nine points. That was a full 47.4% of Foothill's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Foothill has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Cordova, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foothill won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Valley is coming into the contest with five straight defeats on the road, meaning Foothill will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Cordova, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Johnson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Monday.
