Baseball Recap: Purchase Line's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Purchase Line had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Marion Center Stingers by a score of 8-5 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Red Dragons: when they faced off against the Stingers on Tuesday, they had to take a 14-4 defeat.

Christian Moyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Matthew Johnston was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Perruso, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Purchase Line kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Purchase Line's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Marion Center, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Purchase Line will venture away from home to take on Harmony Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.83 runs per game on average), something the Red Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marion Center, they will take on Portage at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
