Preview: Homer-Center Wildcats vs. Penns Manor Comets
The Homer-Center Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Penns Manor Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Homer-Center has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Homer-Center has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Conemaugh Valley 59-26 at home. Given Homer-Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Conemaugh Valley is ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Penns Manor fought the good fight in their overtime match against Portage on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Penns Manor's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Homer-Center's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Penns Manor, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.
Homer-Center came out on top in a nail-biter against Penns Manor in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 37-35. Will Homer-Center repeat their success, or does Penns Manor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
