Recap: Cordova Blue Devils vs. Dora Bulldogs

If the Cordova Blue Devils were feeling good off their 47-23 takedown of the Curry Yellowjackets last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cordova fell 51-41 to Dora on Friday. If Cordova hoped to take revenge for the 53-42 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bella Reese, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Reese is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyria Meadows, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Cordova's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Dora, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.

Cordova won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oak Grove at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Oak Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Cordova is ranked 157th). Dora will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fultondale at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
