Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Alameda

The Piedmont Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Alameda Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Piedmont's offense. They fell just short of Castro Valley by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. Piedmont have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Meanwhile, Alameda also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Bishop O'Dowd on Wednesday, falling 6-0. Alameda haven't had much luck with Bishop O'Dowd recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 7-6-2. As for Alameda, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Piedmont's way against Alameda when the teams last played back in January, as Piedmont made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
