Basketball Recap: Avery Davis and Peyton Cowell Secure Win for Waynesburg Central

Waynesburg Central posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2024 on Monday. They put the hurt on the Charleroi Cougars with a sharp 55-33 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Waynesburg Central was led to victory by Peyton Cowell and Avery Davis. Cowell almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals, while Davis dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance also gave Davis a new career-high in assists (six). Allie Midla also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Waynesburg Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Waynesburg Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Charleroi, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Waynesburg Central will head out to take on Fort Cherry at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. As for Charleroi, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Washington at 7:00 p.m.
