Basketball Game Preview: Tussey Mountain Titans vs. Southern Huntingdon County Rockets

The Tussey Mountain Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Southern Huntingdon County Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Tussey Mountain is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Southern Fulton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tussey Mountain blew Southern Fulton out of the water with a 68-37 final score. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Tussey Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubree Weaver, who posted 11 points along with six assists and four steals. That's the most steals Weaver has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Gabrielson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Tussey Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Southern Huntingdon County didn't have too much trouble with Mifflin County on Friday as they won 72-54. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Huskies are ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southern Huntingdon County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points over those games. As for Tussey Mountain, their record now sits at 15-5.

Tussey Mountain might still be hurting after the 70-47 loss they got from Southern Huntingdon County when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Tussey Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
